We kicked off the year with a new pair of smart glasses that immediately caught my attention—not only because of their design, but also because of the concept behind them: the “soul computer.” Unlike Meta’s glasses, the Pickel 1 is presented as a device designed to remember everything, acting as an extension of your personal memory.

Thanks to their Pickel OS operating system, these glasses not only record but also understand, organize, and contextualize everything you see and hear throughout the day. The promise is ambitious: to turn every everyday experience into a memory that’s accessible, structured, and useful whenever you need it.

In terms of design, the Pickel 1 stands out for its lightweight, elegant, and very discreet aesthetic. Weighing approximately 68 grams, they feel more like traditional glasses than a tech gadget. Their battery promises up to 12 hours of use; they feature a high-performance Snapdragon chip, interactive avatars, and—something especially important for this type of device—encrypted privacy, ensuring that your memories and data remain yours alone.

The overall concept is extremely interesting, especially at a time when artificial intelligence is becoming more deeply integrated into our daily lives. Now we just have to wait for feedback from early adopters to understand how this vision translates into the actual user experience.

The Pickel 1 is now available on its official website in two colors—silver and black—for $799. It’s definitely a product worth keeping an eye on if you’re interested in the future of wearables and the relationship between memory, AI, and design.
