Following the launch of the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) in June of this year, a new contender is now emerging that deserves special attention: the Quark AI, developed by the Chinese company Alibaba.

At first glance, the Quark AIs promise a lot. Their specifications are not only in direct competition with the Ray-Ban Meta, but also with the Ray-Ban Meta. outperform them in some key respects. In terms of design, what has been shown so far points to a glasses elegant, lightweight and with a well-built product feeling, This is essential for the adoption of this type of devices in everyday life.

One of the most striking features is its dual micro-OLED display for augmented reality. Unlike Meta, which relies on information projected in a single eye, Quark offers binocular viewing, This allows for a more natural experience, greater depth and better spatial understanding of contextual information. From a UX perspective, this detail can make a significant difference in prolonged tasks or more complex usage scenarios.

Another strong point is the deep integration with Alibaba's proprietary artificial intelligence model, Qwen, This opens the door to more contextual, predictive and personalized interactions. This is in addition to a battery with an estimated life of up to 24 hours, This is a significant improvement over other devices in its class and a critical factor in the actual user experience.

From a user experience point of view, there is one particularly interesting detail: the integration with Alipay (支付宝). The possibility of make payments directly from the glasses is not just an eye-catching feature, but a clear sign of where wearable computing may evolve: experiences that are increasingly invisible, fast and aligned with everyday user flows.

For the time being, the Quark AI are only available in China, but I am already taking steps to try to get them and to be able to make a full review from UX, product and actual adoption perspective.

Beyond the technical specifications, what's really interesting about Quark AI is the way it Alibaba proposes a complete ecosystemThe new technology will be a single point of contact: hardware, artificial intelligence, payments and services integrated into a single point of contact. If this vision can scale outside of the Chinese market, we could be looking at a relevant change in the way we understand human-IA interaction through wearable devices..

For UX designers and product designers, these glasses represent a clear signal: the future is not only on the screen, but in contextual, persistent interfaces that are deeply integrated into daily life. Quark AI appears to be not just another gadget, but a serious experiment in what personal computing will look like in the coming years.

Indudablemente, las gafas inteligentes han sido para mí uno de los gadgets más interesantes que he probado en 2025.
